Earlier in the week Mike Toth did a controversial edition of his own editorial segment called "Behind The Mike" on Sportsnet. For those unaware, Mike criticized, or questioned if you will, Alexander Ovechkin for going back home to Russia for a few days to be with his ailing grandfather.

I saw that this was a topic in the Sportsnet Forums and found some of the comments pretty interesting. So, instead of having me rant on for a paragraph or two, I'll post some of the comments that were made on this topic.

octopi (who started the thread) - "So, I watched the latest Behind the Mike. Apparently, Ovechkin having a severly ill grampa is no reason for him to leave the Caps for a week.Gee, mike, I think this is the kind of thing that varies from person to person. From what I have been reading/watching off the Washington papers and Caps site, Ovechkin's grampa lived with the family since Ovy was a baby and had a big hand in raising him.Who's stolen your soul?"

Stormy - "Toth just likes to stir the pot... his problem is the he mostly just comes across as a moron. If he doesn't do something intelligent soon some may believe that he really is that foolish!"

joeleaf - "I'm not going to address this Mike Toth "controversy" but rather look at this from a different angle .

For those who think Ovechkin did the "right" thing by visiting his gravely ill grandfather ... do you think Brett Favre is an ungrateful , disrespecting son for going to work the day or day after his father passed away ? As I recall , he was hailed as courageous for not taking time off work . Obviously he felt his job was more important . Just curious what posters think ."
