In your GrillBackOct 29, 2008Raptors vs. 76ers
With so many questions going into the season for the Toronto Raptors I figured I'd go all out sports nerd and keep a running commentary/analysis of their first game of the season. I'm just happy to have the NBA back in my life.
Will Mitchell survive the season? How long will he go before he starts dropping massive F bombs on the sidelines? Can Jermaine O'Neal stay healthy? Do the Raps have enough ball handlers to keep the offense running smoothly? How long before we forget the Joey Graham is on the roster? Will my prediction that Andrea Bargnani is destined to end up being a massive bust come true? ... I could go on but the game is starting an hour early so lets see what happens. First Quarter Analysis: -Wow! New Raptors Play-By-Play man, Matt Devlin asks Leo Rautins about Samuel Dalembert. Ballsy move three minutes into their first game together. Rautins goes cliche on Devlin saying all talk will be done behind closed doors. Translation: I would clothesline that no hustle punk if I thought their was a reasonable chance I wouldn't get caught. -New season, same old Raptors. With just over seven minutes to go in the first quarter Devlin utters 'A rare rebound for the Raptors' ... not a good sign. -Not a fan of the alternate road uniforms. I had no idea which team was which. I think I was rooting for Elton Brand for the first five minutes. -Six minutes into the game and Samuel Dalembert is just owning Chris Bosh with back to back blocks. I can't confirm it but I'm guessing Leo Rautins is glaring at Dalembert like a jilted lover. Ugly Stat #1: The Raps have started 2-12 shooting for the game. Ugly Stat #2: Nine offensive rebounds for Philly and the first quarter isn't even over yet Comments:You want to respond to this article? Access the Canoe Passport and leave us your comments..
